SPEAKER_00:

Welcome back to Yuck Nation. I'm Tom Frank, and this is Hawk Talk, your home for all things, South River High School Sports. Hawk Talk is brought to you in conjunction with the athletic department at South River High School. Merit Creative, your end-to-end creative agency dedicated to amplifying brands' authenticity through branding, marketing, and public relations. Chad's Barbecue and Marilyn Remodeling Expert. We've got a quick one today because there are big games on deck, and we need to get you ready for an action-packed Thursday and Friday. Let's dive in. First up, a round of applause for both our boys and girls' soccer teams, who wrapped up their seasons last week at Steven Decatur in the regional semifinals. The boys finished strong at 7-7-1, and the girls close out an incredible season at 12-4. Great effort, great energy all season long. Now let's talk volleyball. This team's on fire. They've racked up four straight wins, including a 3-0 sweep over James Bennett in the regional quarterfinals. Next up, a huge matchup at a rundle for the regional semifinals this Friday at 4 30 p.m. Let's keep the momentum rolling. And how about our field hockey squad? First, they took down Annapolis 2-0 to claim the county championship, and then followed it up with an overtime thriller, a 3-2 victory over Stephen Decatur, thanks to a clutch game winner from Bailey O'Connor. Now sitting at 12-5, they'll host Chesapeake this Friday night at 6 PM in the state quarterfinals. Let's pack the stands and keep this run alive. Home field advantage only works if we show up. Alright, you know we gotta finish with football. The Seahawks keep flying high after a 42-13 win over Chesapeake. That makes them 8-0 and still undefeated. Quarterback Ben Rains was electric again, 311 yards, five touchdowns through the air, and he even ran one in himself. That's his third straight game over 300 passing yards. Big plays from Xander Dow with three touchdown catches, and Jaden McDuffie with two more and 154 receiving yards. The defense? Rock solid. Four sacks split between Zach Philpot and Corey Warren. Next up, South River hosts Northeast tonight at 6 PM, and a win clinches the county championship. Northeast brings a tough defense, allowing just 14 and a half points per game. So this one's going to be a battle. If you can't make it, it'll be live streamed on the NFHS Network, the official streaming partner of Maryland Sports. But if you can make it, and you should, grab your tickets on GoFan.com, get out there, and be loud. That's it for the quick edition of Hawk Talk. We'll be back soon with all the results and reactions from a huge few days in South River Sports. Make sure to subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or if you listen. Leave us a rating and spread the word, Seahawks Nation. I'm your host, Tom Frank, and until next time, I leave you with a cheer from our South River Cheer team. Go Seahawks. Let's go Hawks.
