Speaker 1:

This week we have a rapid recap edition of Hawk Talk. We'll be back next week with a full episode featuring our first of three Chick-fil-A challenges. We'll get to that in a second, but first I'm very happy to report for all those following the adventures of Mr Ted. He is back safe and sound. Ms Snow is so happy to have her best friend back. Ted met some amazing new friends on his adventure who had no idea that he was involved in fundraising. For those not in the know, mr Ted and Ms Snow are teddy bears that are part of the annual relay for Lace them Up for Libby. Special thanks to anyone who shared the post from Lace them Up for Libby about the missing Mr Ted and for all those who participated in last week's fundraiser to help support the Hopkins Brain and Eye Tumor Laboratory, the lab that's still working with Libby's cells to find new therapies for childhood cancer. Let's dive in on last week's action as brought to you by the Chick-fil-A Edgewater Mobile Drive-Thru the new drive-thru lane for mobile orders. Order ahead on the app, then at the restaurant, pull up to the mobile through lane, scan the QR code and pull around to pick up your order.

Speaker 1:

We'll start with football. It was a rough one last Friday night. Despite an early 7-0 lead behind a Finn Movahill two-yard rushing touchdown, our Seahawks fell to the Old Mill Patriots 46-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots. Meech Jones had a dynamic game for Old Mill, rushing for 91 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. Old Mill pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, while our Seahawks suffered their first loss of the season, making their record 2-1. The JV team played on Monday night and also lost to Old Mill 35-0, putting their record at 1-2.

Speaker 1:

Our volleyball team went 1-2 last week, with a win vs Severn Run, 3-0, and then back-to-back losses, first vs Broadneck, 3-0 and then the Crofton 3-0. That brings their overall record to 2-2. The JV team also went 1-2 last week losses to Severn Run and Crofton and a win at Broadneck. Their overall record sits at 1-3. The field hockey team also went 1-2 last week. It was just that kind of week, I guess. They lost a tough one in the rain last Tuesday to Saverna Park in overtime, won the nothing and then they bounced back versus Old Mill with a 5-0 victory before falling to Crofton last night 3-0. That brings their overall record to 5-3. The JV team, after a 2-0 start, has lost their last three games to bring their record to 2-3-1. Just to keep in line with the rest of our sports, the girls' soccer team also went 1-2 in their last three games. They lost to Saverna Park 4-1, bringing their record to 3-1-1. And lastly, for our boys' soccer team, we check in with Hawk Talk roving reporter Quinn Haust for this report.

Speaker 2:

Last Thursday evening the South River boys' varsity soccer team hosted the Severn Run Wolves. Going into this match, the Seahawks were 1-2-1, but thanks to sophomore Xavier Henderson and senior Lucas Sorella and Daniel Rodriguez, they would come at victorious 3-2, improving their record to 2-2-1. Using the momentum from Thursday's game, south River would improve their record above .500, beating Averna High School 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks look for their third straight win, taking on Crofton tonight at five. This has been Quinn House for the Hawk Talk podcast.

Speaker 1:

The boys did in fact go on the win at Crofton last night to string together three consecutive wins. We scored twice in the second half at Crofton. Daniel Rodriguez slotted it past from a Camille Neville layoff assist with about three, 30 minutes left, and Camille himself blasted it in from the net from a Lucas Cirillo assist about 10 minutes later. Ian Wallace had four saves to preserve the shutout and win 2-0. The JV boys lost last night at Crofton 2-0, bringing their record to 4-2-1. We have a very full schedule the rest of this week. We'll start tonight. Our golf team is at Crofton at 3 pm. Then at absolutely jam-packed Thursday, boys JV soccer will be at home versus Annapolis at 445. Jv field hockey will be at Annapolis starting at 5, followed by the varsity at 630. Jv volleyball will be at Saverna Park starting at 5 pm, followed by the varsity at 6. Girls varsityball will be at Saverna Park starting at 5 pm, followed by the varsity at 6. Girls Varsity Soccer will be at home versus Annapolis in the stadium at 5, followed by the boys at 7 o'clock. And then on Friday our football team will be at home for a second consecutive week to face off against Annapolis High School. Annapolis comes into the game at 2-1, with a 49-33 victory over Saverna Park last week. Get your tickets early. This should be a packed house. And then, to end the week, the boys soccer will be away at Bel Air High School on Saturday. Jv plays at 4 pm, followed by the varsity at 5 30. Okay, so listen up.

Speaker 1:
